Kansas City, Kan., is under a burn ban until further notice, according to the Fire Department.
No outdoor burning is allowed.
The National Weather Service also has issued a red flag warning until 8 p.m. tonight and also, a wind advisory today.
A northwest wind of 22 to 26 mph may gust as high as 37 mph today, according to the weather service. There is also a slight, 20 percent, chance of showers and thunderstorms before 4 p.m.
