The Unified Government Commission is scheduled to vote on its budget at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15.
The meeting will be in the Commission Chambers, lobby level, City Hall, 701 N. 7th St., Kansas City, Kansas.
Several UG budget items are on the agenda, including approval of the UG city and county mill levy, along with setting annual fees such as the PILOT fee, sewer service charge, solid waste fee, county library mill levy and Self-Supported Municipal Improvement District..
A community comment time will be held during the 7 p.m. meeting, with residents limited to 2 minutes, and a maximum time limit of 45 minutes for the open forum session.
Also on the 7 p.m. agenda:
• A presentation by Dr. Evelyn Hill about the Board of Public Utilities.
• An update by Commissioner Harold Johnson on the Business and Economic Development Task Force.
• A resolution to appoint electors to witness the destruction of ballots and election materials according to statute.
• A resolution to set a public hearing date of Oct. 27 for the redevelopment project plan for 505 Central Ave.
• An update by the interim county administration on organizational assessments.
• An update by the interim county administrator on the status of grants and the grant process.
• A resolution setting the car allowance for the Wyandotte County Election Commissioner.
• A presentation of financing options to reopen Fairfax Fire Station.
• A proclamation for Sept. 12 to be POW-MIA Recognition Day.
• A proclamation for Sept. 14 to be Fairfax District Founding Day.
• A proclamation for September to be recognized as Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.
• A proclamation for Sept. 15 to Oct. 15 to be recognized as Hispanic Heritage Month.
• A plat of Griggs Place, 107th and Polfer Road, being developed by David Griggs.
Before the 7 p.m. meeting, the UG Commission will meet in a special session at 5 p.m. in the Commission Chamber on updates related to public works bio-solids project and the reopening of the Fairfax fire station.
At a recent meeting, UG commissioners heard a presentation where the fire chief and fire union agreed on a plan to reopen the Fairfax station, and a nonbinding straw poll indicated the commission was interested in it.
