Brown chosen to be new trustee at KCKCC

Rosalyn K. Brown was chosen as the new member of the Kansas City Kansas Community College Board of Trustees on Tuesday.

The trustees voted 4-2 to approve her nomination. Six candidates submitted their names for the position.

Brown fills the vacancy left by the death of Mary Ann Flunder. The term is through 2019.

Brown is a public relations consultant who has worked as coordinator of the juvenile justice program in Wyandotte County from 2005 to 2008 and is a former assistant to former Mayor Carol Marinovich from 1998 to 2005. She worked with the Kansas City, Kan., from 1975 to 1998.

She has worked with the Kansas East COGIC Inc. since 2003.

Brown has a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Emporia State University.

She has received many awards including a United Way volunteer award in 2006, and she is well known for her efforts in the domestic violence field in the Kansas City area. She has served on the board of Friends of Yates.

Brown will be sworn in at the July 12 trustees’ meeting.
