BPU to hold free energy-efficiency workshops

The Board of Public Utilities will sponsor a free energy-efficiency workshop on Monday, June 8.

The event will be held in two sessions on June 8 at the West Wyandotte Library, 1737 N. 82nd. The first session is 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. and the second session is 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Residents may attend one or the other session.

At the workshop, topics will include home improvement solutions that reduce home energy costs. Industry experts will showcase displays, conduct demonstrations and offer environmental advice for homes.

There will be light refreshments.

“This will be the first time we’ve offered two in the same day at the same location,” said David Allen, BPU development coordinator. “We are trying to accommodate more of our customers’ schedules.”

Guests can look forward to learning about these topics:
• “A Home Energy Audit, Why Do I Need One?” – Star Energy Consultants, Ben Meyer.
• “Getting and Installing Your Home Solar Power System,” Kansas City, Kan., homeowner, Marion Strick.
• “Ground Zero: Basement to Roof Energy Efficiency,” BPU’s David Allen.

Space is limited for the workshops; reservations should be made to 913-573-9922 or [email protected] before Thursday, June 4, for the afternoon or evening session.
