On Thursday night, the outdoor Boulevard Drive-in Theater, 1051 Merriam Lane, will become a “bike-in theater” for one night for the baseball movie, “The Sandlot.”
Doors open at 7 p.m. May 17, with the movie beginning at dark. Admission will be free for those on bicycles and pedestrians. Those in cars will be asked to donate $5 to the Rosedale Development Association. Seating and bicycle storage will be available.
The event is sponsored by the Rosedale Development Association, BikeWalkKC, Mid-America Council, Board of Public Utilities, Boulevard Drive-in Theater and the Brain Injury Association of Kansas and Greater KC.
Games, sports, bicycle mazes and activities for all ages are planned. Snacks will be available for cash purchase at the concessions shop.
According to Rosedale Development Association officials, the organization is promoting safe family cycling in the community and encouraging people to give bicycling a try.
