A 31-year-old Bonner Springs man driving a Dodge pickup at 5:36 p.m. Jan. 9 tried to avoid another vehicle on U.S. 73, lost control of the truck, and hit another vehicle in Atchison County.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report, the Bonner Springs man was not injured.
The traffic incident started when an unknown vehicle crossed the center line causing the Dodge pickup to make an avoidance maneuver, according to the report. Then the driver lost control of the truck. The driver of a Nissan Altima, a 25-year-old woman from Atchison, also made an avoidance maneuver, according to the trooper’s report. The pickup struck the Nissan on the east gravel shoulder, the report stated.
The driver of the Altima was injured and taken to the hospital. The third vehicle left the scene of the accident, the report stated.
