Bonds for Hilton Garden Inn renovations on tonight’s UG agenda

A resolution to issue up to $4 million in industrial revenue bonds for renovations of the Hilton Garden Inn is on tonight’s Unified Government Commission agenda.

The meeting is at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, in the Commission Chambers, lobby level, City Hall, 701 N. 7th St., Kansas City, Kansas.

The IRBs will use a sales tax exemption to pay for the renovations, which would include construction materials, furniture, fixtures and equipment for the hotel at 520 Minnesota Ave.

Also on the UG agenda tonight:

• A resolution to adopt the Kansas City, Kansas, Convention and Visitors’ Bureau 2019 marketing plan;
• A brief presentation on the UG’s snow removal program;
• Adoption of the UG’s state and federal legislative programs;
• An amendment to the Legends West Lawn Development agreement;
• A revision to the UG’s cash and investment policy;
• A $1 million increase in the Piper fire station project budget;
• Presentation of police department awards;
• Land Bank items including 2109 S. 26th St., new construction; 3110 N. 47th St., yard extension; 1520 Pacific Ave., yard extension; and 1600 N. 59th St., yard extension.

Also, the UG Commission will meet at 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, in the fifth floor conference room, City Hall, 701 N. 7th St., Kansas City, Kansas, to hear the Kansas City, Kansas, Convention and Visitors Bureau’s budget presentation. Afterward, the commission will go to the ninth floor conference room for a closed session on the UG administrator’s review.
