Body found on river bank being investigated as homicide, according to police

A body has been found on the bank of the river behind the Unified Government water pollution control facility at 50 Market Street, according to Kansas City, Kan., police.

The man was found dead on the river bank, possibly from a stabbing, police said.

Police stated that the body was originally found by Kansas City, Mo., police about 3:45 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, and then they notified Kansas City, Kan., police.

The man who was found dead may have lived in a makeshift house near the UG water pollution control building, according to authorities. The location is not far from I-70 and Ohio Street in the West Bottoms, on the Kansas side, near the confluence of the Kansas and Missouri rivers.

The identity of the victim will be released once there is positive identification and family notification, the police spokesman said.
