A body was discovered as firefighters fought a fire at 11:55 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, at 1535 Rowland Ave., according to a Kansas City, Kansas, Fire Department spokesman.
The spokesman said the body that appears to be a male was discovered in the residence by firefighters during search-and-rescue. At this time, there is no other identifying information available.
The fire is under investigation, the spokesman said.
When firefighters arrived, there was fire and smoke showing from the single-story home, according to the spokesman, and firefighters attacked the fire.
A firefighter suffered minor burns while extinguishing the fire, and was treated and released, according to the spokesman.
At this time, it appears the fire was a total loss, the spokesman said. The loss to contents was estimated at $10,000, and the loss to property was estimated at $45,000, according to the Fire Department’s report.
