Their unbeaten season ended, Kansas City Kansas Community College soccer Blue Devils now take to the road for the next four weeks starting Thursday against Cowley College at Arkansas City.

Garden City handed the Blue Devil men their first setback in five starts Tuesday, blanking KCKCC in the second half for a 2-1 win. The Broncbuster women made it a sweep with a 5-0 win in the opener that left the Lady Blue Devils 2-4.

Garden City’s men took an early 1-0 lead but KCKCC got even on a goal by sophomore Steven Sosa on an assist from another soph, Jahren Barrow. Garden City then scored the game-winner late in the first half.

“No team wants to lose but it’s going to happen and when it does, our young will learn and correct the mistakes for the next game,” said assistant coach Burke Slusher.

With their next six games on the road, the Blue Devils will not return home until Oct. 13 when they will play host to Johnson County.
