Kansas City Kansas Community College’s men’s soccer team is getting accustomed to playing close games. They’ve won three in a row – all by one goal.

The Blue Devils blanked Garden City 1-0 Saturday after a 4-3 win at Johnson County on Wednesday. At Coffeyville Wednesday, the Blue Devils (3-2) are home against Barton County Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

Leonardo Bonelli scored on a penalty kick midway through the first half and goalkeeper Christian Villegas made it stand up with the first shutout of his career. The penalty kick came after Bonelli was taken down in the box.

Bonelli also had KCKCC’s game-clinch goal in the 4-3 win at JCCC. The goal came with 15 minutes left on an assist from Jorge Monferrer and gave the Blue Devils a 4-2 lead. The Cavaliers closed to 4-3 two minutes later before Vellegas protected the lead. Vellegas had 11 saves while the Blue Devils had 16 shots on goal.

Kervens Joseph gave KCKCC an early 1-0 lead on an assist from Rood Beaubrun and then put the Blue Devils in front 2-1 with a goal at the 39:00 mark. Torain Young and Beaubrun assisted on the goal and one minute later, Samba Gnokne put KCKCC in front 3-1 with an unassisted goal.
