Kansas City Kansas Community College’s men’s soccer team will try to extend its winning streak to four in a row Tuesday when the Blue Devils are host to Coffeyville at 7:30 p.m.

It’s the final regular season home game for the Blue Devils, who are coming off a 3-2 overtime win over Cowley College and a 3-1 victory over Allen County. Coffeyville nipped KCKCC 1-0 in the first meeting of the two teams at Coffeyville.

The 3-2 overtime win over Cowley vaulted the Blue Devils (5-3) past the Tigers (4-3-1) into second place in the Jayhawk Conference and kept their chances alive of overtaking first place Neosho County (5-0-1).

KCKCC will close out regular season play next Tuesday at Johnson County while Neosho still has three games left.

Sophomore Guilherme Grave’s unassisted goal four minutes into overtime provided the Blue Devils the win over Cowley.

Trailing 1-0 just 17 minutes into the game, sophomore Brajan Huyke pulled the Blue Devils even with an assist from freshman Hector Valles six minutes later.

KCKCC then went ahead two minutes before halftime on a goal by Piper freshman Jackson Jones on a pass from Harmon sophomore Giovanni Calderon. The Blue Devils stayed in front only to have Cowley tie it on a goal at the 78-minute mark.

KCKCC never trailed in the 3-1 win over Allen County. Huyke put the Blue Devils in front just 16 minutes into the game on a pass from Grave and then Giovanni Calderon made it 2-0 three minutes before halftime on an assist from his twin brother, Jesse Calderon.

Allen County closed to 2-1 early in the second half but Fernando Garella clinched the win in the waning minutes on a Giovanni Calderon assist.
