Barton County was as good as its No. 15 NJCAA Division I national ranking Saturday in a 3-0 win over Kansas City Kansas Community College.
The loss left the Blue Devils at 3-4 with three remaining contests starting with a home game against Neosho County Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. KCKCC also is host to Johnson County May 5 before closing the season at Coffeyville May 15.
Limiting KCKCC to just eight shots on goal, Barton took a 1-0 halftime lead on an unassisted goal by Felipe D’Agostini at the 31:02 mark and then clinched the win with two goals in the final 20 minutes.
Elijah Williams with an assist from Cedric Morales made it 2-0 at 70:23 and D’Agostini added a second goal three minutes later on a pass from Pasquale Degaetano. Barton had six shots on goal against KCKCC goalkeeper Gregorio Gros Jacques.
