A local blood shortage has reached the emergency level, according to the Community Blood Center of Greater Kansas City.
There is less than a three-day supply of blood available, as there is a surge of COVID cases currently in the nation, according to the CBC. Some blood drives at schools and other places have been canceled because of the surge in COVID.
Donors can give blood at the Community Blood Center sites, as well as at mobile blood drives scheduled throughout the area. Donors are asked to make appointments online at savealifenow.org.
