The Community Blood Center of Greater Kansas City said there is an urgent, national need for blood donations.
Donors are encouraged to give blood, as the blood supply has dropped below a seven-day inventory, according to the CBC. The nation’s blood supply is at critically low levels, according to a CBC spokesman.
Residents are asked to donate blood at either the CBC offices or at mobile blood drives throughout the community.
One mobile blood drive is going on today, Oct. 24, at Washington High School, 7340 Leavenworth Road, in the small gym, through 1 p.m.
The University of Kansas Medical Center will hold a mobile blood drive from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, in the Hixson Atrium, 3901 Rainbow Blvd., Kansas City, Kansas.
Another blood drive is scheduled from 7:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, at Turner High School’s auxiliary gym, 2211 S. 55th St.
Other upcoming blood drives include one at Bishop Ward High School, 708 N. 18th St., from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, in the gym.
Bonner Springs YMCA will be the site of a Bonner Springs community blood drive from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, in Classroom A at the YMCA, 2251 S. 138th St., Bonner Springs.
