Bitterly cold temperatures will continue into Friday morning, the National Weather Service said. The wind chill today will be between minus 9 and 1.
Very light snow fell in parts of the metro area overnight and this morning. Snow will be moving out of the forecast, tapering off by mid-morning, according to the weather service.
Little warmup in temperatures is expected today, with a high of 14 forecast in Wyandotte County, the weather service said.
Readings may struggle to break freezing on Friday, when the high will be about 26, but on Saturday, temperatures will warm up to about 46, according to the weather service. Temperatures are expected to be above normal on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Today, it will be cloudy through mid-morning, then gradually clearing and cold, with a high near 14, the weather service said. Wind chill values will be between minus 9 and 1. A north northwest wind of 7 to 13 mph will gust as high as 21 mph.
Tonight, it will be partly cloudy, with a low of 6, according to the weather service. A north northwest wind of 5 to 7 mph will become calm in the evening.
Friday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 26, the weather service said. A light east southeast wind will become south southeast 5 to 10 mph in the morning.
Friday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 22, according to the weather service. A south southeast wind of 7 to 10 mph will gust as high as 20 mph.
Saturday, there will be increasing clouds, with a high near 46, the weather service said. A south wind of 6 to 13 mph will gust as high as 22 mph.
