Be careful what you wish for as Stephen Sondheim’s and James Lapine’s cockeyed fairy tale is brought to life in Bishop Ward High School Drama Clubs adaptation of the groundbreaking, Tony Award-winning musical, “Into the Woods JR.”

Featuring favorite characters, the musical centers on a baker and his wife who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the king’s festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a witch’s curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse and wind up changed forever.

“I am so incredibly excited to have had the opportunity to direct ‘Into the Woods, Jr.’ as my first production as a member of the Bishop Ward family. I feel blessed every day to be able to work with such talented kids and to have a mentor as wonderful as Ms. Kelly Lipovitz,” said Bishop Ward drama sponsor Devon Whitton.

The musical will be performed at the Willard L. Phillips Memorial Auditorium at Bishop Ward High School, 708 N. 18th St., at 7 p.m. on March 3, 4, and 5. Tickets can be purchased at the door and are $7 for adults, $5 for children. Children under 6 and adults over 65 are admitted for free.
