No. 10 KCKCC to play No. 8 Highland at home Thursday

Bradi Basler homered in each game to extend her home run streak to six straight games in a Kansas City Kansas Community College sweep of Southeast Community College in Beatrice, Nebraska, Monday.
Freshman Breanna Droge allowed just one hit in a 14-0 opening game win; Basler scattered six hits in an 18-4 nightcap victory. Both games took just five innings. A sophomore from Lansing, Basler has 13 home runs for the season including seven in her last six games. She also leads the team in runs-batted-in with 66.
Ranked No. 10 in the current NJCAA DII poll, the Blue Devils (37-9) will take a six-game winning streak into a home showdown Thursday with No. 8 ranked Highland (30-6). Game times are 2 and 4 p.m. Highland leads the Jayhawk Conference Division B with a 15-3 record; KCKCC is third in Division A at 16-6.
Basler, Alexis Rymer and Hannah Maurer each homered and combined to drive in 10 runs in the 14-0 opener.
Rymer, who has nine home runs this season, and Maurer, who has five, each drove in three runs while Basler drove in four. Maurer also had a double and single and Alaina Howe, Rymer and Basler two hits apiece.
Droge allowed just one hit and one walk in boosting her record to 14-3. She struck out eight. Basler (18-4) fanned four while giving up four runs on six hits in the 18-4 nightcap.
Savannah Maynard, Devin Purcell and Basler homered in the second game. It was the fifth of the season for Maynard.
Basler drove in four runs with her 13th homer and two doubles while Purcell also doubled and singled, Howe singled twice and Leah Seichepine doubled. Rymer drove in three runs and Maynard, Purcell, Maurer and Howe two each.
