Dense fog advisory in effect, storms possible today

A dense fog advisory is in effect until noon today, according to the National Weather Service.

Drivers are asked to be cautious as visibility will be reduced, the weather service said.

Also in the forecast are scattered thunderstorms late this afternoon and evening, according to the weather service.

A few storms may be strong, producing wind gusts up to 60 mph and hail up to the size of quarters, the weather service said.

Today, rain is likely, then rain and possibly a thunderstorm after 3 p.m., the weather service said. There will be areas of dense fog. The high will be near 58 with an east southeast wind of 7 to 9 mph. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is possible.

Tonight, there is a 90 percent chance of rain and possibly a thunderstorm before midnight, then a chance of rain and thunderstorms between midnight and 3 a.m., according to the weather service. There could be patchy fog before 3 a.m. The low will be around 42 with an east wind of 6 to 10 mph becoming southwest after midnight. Winds may gust to 20 mph.

Tuesday, it will be mostly cloudy, with temperatures falling to around 39 by 5 p.m., the weather service said. A west southwest wind of 10 to 15 mph will gust as high as 24 mph.

Tuesday night, it will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 28, according to the weather service. A west northwest wind of 11 mph will gust as high as 22 mph.

Wednesday, it will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 35 and a west northwest wind of 10 to 14 mph, gusting as high as 24 mph, the weather service said.

Wednesday night, it will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 22, according to the weather service.

Thursday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 34, the weather service said.

Friday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 46, the weather service said.

Suspect identified in shooting on Parallel

The Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department has identified the suspect killed Friday morning in an officer-involved shooting in the 9400 block of Parallel Parkway.

The suspect has been identified as Thomas Marshall, 53, a resident of Kansas City, Kansas, according to a police spokesman.

Detectives with the Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department and the Wyandotte County District Attorney’s Office are currently investigating this incident.
