Audience wins battle of the bands at Welborn

After the Leavenworth Road Parade, the Schlagle, Washington, and Wyandotte High School marching bands participated in a Battle of the Bands on the grounds of Welborn Elementary School in Kansas City, Kan. A large audience of about 150 quickly gathered around to hear the great music.

The afternoon became hot and humid as the clouds cleared away, and paramedics were called when a Schlagle band member developed heat exhaustion. Schlagle left early, but Washington and Wyandotte kept going for several more songs, before agreeing to end the contest with handshakes all around.
