An attempted kidnapping and rape was reported near 3rd and Parallel on Wednesday, Aug. 4, according to the Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Department spokesman.
A sergeant with the Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Office was flagged down near 3rd and Parallel on Aug. 4 by a person alerting him of an attempted sexual assault.
With the assistance of a neighbor, the victim was able to stop the attack, the sheriff’s spokesman stated.
A suspect, Raymond Elkins, was arrested and charged with kidnapping and attempted rape, according to the sheriff’s spokesman. Elkins is being held in the Wyandotte County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
The incident is currently under investigation by the Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Unit.
