Several area offices are closed for the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday and Friday.
Thursday, Nov. 23, and Friday, Nov. 24, the Unified Government offices are closed for the Thanksgiving holiday.
The Board of Public Utilities’ offices and customer service lobby also will be closed Thursday, Nov. 23, and Friday, Nov. 24, for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Although BPU’s business offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday, emergency service is available seven days a week, 24 hours a day. For power emergencies, customers may call 913-573-9522. The water emergency number is 913-573-9622 from 8 a.m. to midnight on weekdays. The number is 913-573-9522 from midnight to 8 a.m., and during weekends and holidays.
Residential trash pickup will be delayed on day on Thanksgiving, according to Waste Management. There will be no recycling or garbage service on Thursday, and trash collection will be delayed on day for those whose regular collection day is Thursday and Friday. Trash that is usually collected on Thursday will be collected on Friday, and trash usually collected on Friday will be collected on Saturday.
Services will resume their normal schedule next week. Business and commercial trash collection will continue this week on their normal schedule, and will not be delayed for the holiday.
