Area cools off after storm

Storms moved through the metropolitan Kansas City area this morning, bringing a cool front with them.

Temperatures were 69 degrees at 7 a.m., and will fall to about 61 by 5 p.m., the National Weather Service said.

While there is still a chance of showers before 1 p.m. today, it appears that most of the storms have already moved through the area, according to the weather service.

Tonight, the low will be around 38, with a west wind of 15 to 20 mph, decreasing to 8 to 13 mph after midnight, the weather service said. Winds could gust as high as 29 mph.

Friday, expect a high near 66, with a west wind of 7 to 11 mph, according to the weather service. Friday night, there will be a low around 44, with a west northwest wind around 6 mph.

On Saturday, expect mostly sunny skies with a high near 70, the weather service said.
