All lanes of northbound and southbound I-435 from Kansas Avenue to just south of State Avenue and the westbound I-70 to southbound I-435 ramp are now open to all traffic as of 2:45 p.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 5, according to he Kasnas Department of Transportation.
Crews still have some general cleanup tasks to complete adjacent to the project which will have no delays to traffic, a KDOT spokesman said.
Repair work on the northbound and southbound I-435 bridges has been completed and all lanes and ramps are now open to traffic. The overall project work was scheduled to be completed in early October 2016. The project was completed and opened on schedule.
I’m glad this is done and was completed as scheduled, but given that this is one of the busiest, most vital, overpasses in the city — and certainly in Wyco — how was this project allowed to take all summer? Why not allow them to work longer schedules? Weekends? In many other cities, vital work like this is treated as such.
