An afternoon storm was moving through Wyandotte County Wednesday.
The National Weather Service said Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Tonganoxie at 2:30 p.m. It was moving northeast at 35 mph.
Pea-sized hail and winds in excess of 30 mph were possible with the storm, the weather service said.
Locations affected included Bonner Springs, Edwardsville, Kansas City, Kansas, and other nearby communities.
Heavy rainfall also was occurring with this storm, the weather service said. Lightning may strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm.
The weather service advised residents to seek shelter inside a building or vehicle.
