Wet and icy weather over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend resulted in some accidents locally.
According to a Kansas Turnpike Authority trooper’s report, a Dodge Stratus was traveling westbound on I-70 near the Park Drive exit in Kansas City, Kan., at 7:25 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, when it lost control because of the wet roadway.
The Stratus traveled into the outside ditch and collided with the embankment, the trooper’s report stated.
The driver, a 25-year-old woman from Grandview, Mo., was injured and taken to a hospital, the report stated.
Another I-70 accident near the Park Drive exit in Kansas City, Kan., was reported at 7:25 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 28.
The trooper’s report stated that a Nissan Altima was westbound on I-70 in the middle lane when the driver lost control. The Altima drove over ice and water on the roadway, the report stated.
The Altima slid off the roadway into the right ditch and struck the guardrail, causing damage to the Nissan and to 30 feet of the guardrail, the trooper’s report stated.
The driver, a 25-year-old woman from Kansas City, Kan., was injured and taken to a hospital, according to the report.
