Accident reported on westbound I-70 in downtown KCK area

An accident was reported at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, on westbound I-70 near Minnesota Avenue, according to KC Scout. According to authorities, a semi truck transporting crushed cars hit a concrete barrier, and a crushed car flew over the barrier, landing on a semi truck below. I-70 westbound was closed because of the semi rollover accident and motorists were encouraged to find an alternate route. (KC Scout photo)
According to a Kansas Department of Transportation social media post, the accident was on the I-70 westbound curve at the Lewis and Clark Viaduct in Kansas City, Kansas. The new bridge, which just reopened this month, was damaged from the semi rollover. Lanes could be closed through the weekend or until KDOT can finish repairs, according to KDOT. (KDOT photo)
