Accident on Wednesday closed I-70

An accident at 1:31 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, on eastbound I-70 resulted in I-70 east being shut down. It has since reopened.

According to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report, a vehicle providing traffic control for the Kansas Turnpike Authority was hit from behind, and the driver of the traffic control vehicle had minor injuries.

The accident happened on eastbound I-70 between 78th Street and I-435, according to the report.

The trooper’s report stated that the driver of an FRHT vehicle and the traffic control vehicle were eastbound on I-70 when the FRHT vehicle rear-ended the traffic control vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle that was in the rear was a 16-year-old male from Kansas City, Kansas, the report stated. He had a possible minor injury and was taken to a hospital, according to the report.

The driver of the traffic control vehicle, a 57-year-old Leavenworth, Kansas, man, had a possible minor injury and was taken to a hospital, the report stated.
