A multi-vehicle accident on I-635 northbound near Metropolitan Avenue on Thursday sent two people to the hospital.
The chain-type accident involving five vehicles started about 1:26 p.m. July 30 when a Chevy Silverado was trying to avoid debris on the road, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report.
The driver of the Silverado, a 44-year-old man from Gardner, Kan., was injured and taken to a hospital in Kansas City, Kan.
The Silverado struck a Nissan Titan, driven by a 55-year-old man from Shawnee, Kan., the trooper’s report stated. The Titan’s driver had a possible injury was taken to a hospital in Johnson County, according to the report.
The Nissan Titan struck the back of a Mazda CX9, the report stated. The Mazda was driven by an 82-year-old man from Leawood, Kan., according to the report, who was not injured.
The Mazda struck the back of a Chevy Tahoe, according to the trooper’s report. The driver of the Tahoe, a 40-year-old woman from Kansas City, Kan., was not injured, the report stated.
A 42-year-old passenger from Kansas City, Kan., in the Tahoe also was not injured, the report stated.
An Infiniti G then struck the rear of the Chevy Silverado that was mentioned earlier, the trooper’s report stated. The driver of the Infiniti, a 35-year-old man from Shawnee, Kan., was not injured, the report stated.
