An emergency vehicle was stopped in the left lane of I-670 providing traffic control when it was struck at 1:53 a.m. Feb. 19, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report.
The emergency vehicle was legally parked on I-670 in the eastbound lanes, just west of Genessee Street, according to the trooper’s report.
It was providing traffic control for an abandoned vehicle on the left shoulder when it was struck in the passenger front door by a Ford Econoline, the report stated.
The driver of the Econoline, a 55-year-old Kansas City, Kan., man, was injured and taken to a hospital, the report stated.
