More travelers than ever will be on the roads and in the air traveling this season, according to AAA.
AAA projected 98.6 million Americans would travel 50 miles or more from their homes during the year-end holiday season, an increase of four percent from those who traveled last year.
It will be the highest growth rate for the year-end holiday season since 2009 and the highest travel volume in a holiday period since 2001, since AAA started keeping records.
Nearly 91 percent of travelers will travel by road, an increase of 4.2 percent from 2013, according to AAA.
Air travel is expected to grow one percent from 2013, with 5.7 million travelers expected to take to the skies.
Low gas prices continue to help boost disposable income with the national average price of gas at $2.37 per gallon, and it was $3.25 a gallon a year ago.
AAA reported the average price of gas in Kansas City, Kan., was $2.01 a gallon. That compares to $2.96 one year ago, and $2.66 a month ago.
