The victim of a homicide Tuesday afternoon in the 3100 block of Cleveland Avenue has been identified, according to a police spokesman.
The victim was Johnnie Roades,19, a resident of Kansas City, Kansas, according to the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department. It was the 30th homicide of 2021 in Kansas City, Kansas.
Officers were sent to the location about 6:20 p.m. Tuesday after a report about a deceased person. When they arrived, officers found Roades, the apparent victim of gunfire, according to the spokesman.
Neighbors said they heard gunshots around 4:30 p.m., but because of the location of the body under a tree in a grassy area, the body was not found until a pedestrian walked through the area, according to police.
No one is currently in custody, police stated.

This incident is currently under investigation by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department’s Major Case Unit, the spokesman stated.
