A flash flood watch has been issued for Wyandotte County and the surrounding area from 4 p.m. Thursday, June 24, through 7 a.m. Friday, June 25, according to the National Weather Service.

A wide area is under the flash flood watch. Most of the Kansas City area, plus many counties to the north and east, are included.

Several rounds of thunderstorms are expected Thursday afternoon into the overnight hours, according to the weather service.

Repeated bouts of heavy rain will lead to the potential of flash flood, the weather service said.

Residents are advised to monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should a flash flood warning be issued, the weather service said.
