KCK man charged in fatal crash

Diquan P. Fant, 27, of Kansas City, Kansas, has been arrested and charged in a fatal car crash from May 9 at 38th and Parallel Parkway, according to police.

Henry C. Fletcher, 53, of Kansas City, Kansas, died in the crash. Officers were dispatched to the crash around 6:45 p.m. May 9.

An investigation indicated that a convertible Ford Thunderbird driven by Fant was traveling at a high rate of speed when it ran a red light at 38th, striking a Kia Soul traveling northbound on 38th, a police spokesman stated.

The Kia rolled several times, police said. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

After the impact with the Kia, Fant’s vehicle crossed the center line and became disabled when it crashed into a retaining wall, the police spokesman stated.

Fant was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and now faces felony manslaughter charges, the spokesman said.

Fant is being held in the Wyandotte County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
