Summer heat will arrive today, Thursday and Friday, and the National Weather Service is urging people to make a plan to keep cool and prevent heat-related illnesses.
The maximum heat index values will exceed 90 degrees Wednesday and Thursday, and around 100 on Friday, according to the weather service.
Make sure children and pets are never left alone in closed vehicles, the weather service said. Within minutes, the temperature in a car can reach over 140 degrees and this could be fatal.
Caution should be taken if spending time outside, according to the weather service.
Dry conditions are expected Wednesday and Thursday, but there is still a possibility of a storm developing, the weather service said. If a storm develops, no severe weather is expected.
A round of strong storms is possible Friday during the day, according to the weather service. The main concerns are strong winds and hail.
Today, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 89 and a light east northeast wind, the weather service said.
Tonight, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 71 and a calm wind, according to the weather service.
Thursday, it will be sunny with a high near 92, the weather service said. Heat index values will be as high as 95. A calm wind will become southeast around 6 mph in the afternoon.
Thursday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 73 and a southeast wind of 3 to 6 mph, according to the weather service.
Friday, there is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m., with a high near 94, the weather service said. A south southeast wind will be 5 to 7 mph. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected.
Friday night, there is a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a low of 71, according to the weather service. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is possible.
Saturday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 89, the weather service said.

Sunday, it will be sunny, with a high near 92, the weather service.
