Victim of homicide on Barnett identified

The victim of a Friday afternoon homicide in the 800 block of Barnett has been identified, according to a Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department spokesman.

Kevin Rogers, 58, a resident of Kansas City, Kansas, was the victim, police said.

Officers were called to the 800 block of Barnett about 4:14 p.m. Friday and found Rogers deceased outside his residence from a single gunshot wound, according to the spokesman.

Before officers arrived, the suspect fled on foot, but was taken into custody several blocks away a short time later, the spokesman stated.

Curtis Lee Stacker II, 54, a resident of Kansas City, Kansas, has been charged with first-degree murder; attempted aggravated robbery; criminal in possession of a firearm by a felon; and probation violation.

The Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department’s Major Case Unit is investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS, police said.
