A Kansas City, Kansas, resident died in a crash at 10:39 p.m. Sunday, March 21, on I-635 near Metropolitan Avenue, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report.
Lance Elmon Owens Jr., 28, of Kansas City, Kansas, died in the single-vehicle accident, according to the trooper’s report.
Owens was northbound on I-635 south of Metropolitan and drove off the right side of the roadway into the ditch, where his Kia Sorento overturned, the report stated.
The driver was ejected out of the windshield, according to the report.
The driver was not wearing a safety restraint, according to the report.

Prayers to Lances’ family- as his neighbor I’ve seen Lance make quite a few changes for the positive over the last couple years- his family meant the WORLD to him! We had just finished filing his taxes for the last few years and he was so excited when we got them filed as his kids mother had told him “you gotta get your taxes in order for me to marry you!” Lance was a one of a kind and will be remembered by all! Everyone make sure you tell those you care about just how much they mean to you as you never know when that opportunity will no longer be there.
