FDA warns consumers about products falsely claiming to treat COVID-19

The FDA is warning consumer about CBD products that are misleading people into thinking they can prevent, treat or cure COVID-19.

According to the FDA, a company selling CBD products was sent a warning letter in March. The letter stated, in part: “We request that you take immediate action to cease the sale of any unapproved and unauthorized products for the mitigation, prevention, treatment, diagnosis, or cure of COVID-19.”

According to the FDA, new drugs such as CBD products may not be legally introduced or delivered for introduction into interstate commerce without prior approval from the FDA.

Consumers concerned about COVID-19 should consult with their health care provider, the FDA stated.
