A man in his mid-60s died in a single-vehicle accident in the 6100 block of Riverview Avenue, according to a Kansas City, Kansas, police spokesman.
Police were dispatched to the location at 11:42 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, and found a vehicle in a creek bed, the spokesman stated.
After an initial investigation, police stated they believe the accident took place Sunday evening, Feb. 21.
Officers on Wednesday located the vehicle, which appeared to have been traveling westbound on Riverview when it left the roadway, hit an embankment and landed in the semi-frozen creek bed, according to the spokesman.
The sole occupant of the vehicle was pronounced dead upon arrival, the spokesman stated.
The location in a semi-wooded area, and the position in which the vehicle came to rest, made it extremely difficult for passing motorists to have seen, according to the spokesman.
The victim’s name will be released later, after the family is notified, police said.
The traffic fatality is under investigation by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department Traffic Unit. Police asked anyone with information about it to call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
