Victim suffers gunshot wound to hand
A victim suffered a gunshot wound to the hand about 12:40 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 7, in the 100 block of South Baltimore Street, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.
Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Minnesota Avenue, and a victim told them that an unknown person had pulled up in the alley on South Baltimore and shot a gun twice, hitting him in the hand, according to the report.
The victim left and then called 911, according to the report. Police and EMS responded, and the victim was taken to a hospital.
Deputy struck while trying to break up fight
A Sheriff’s deputy was struck while trying to break up a fight between three males at 2:13 a.m. Feb. 7 in the 800 block of Armstrong Avenue, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.
Officers were dispatched to assist in arresting the suspect, the report stated. When the suspect was taken into custody, the suspect grabbed one of the officers and tried to attack him, the report stated. The suspect was taken into custody, according to the report.
Because of the suspect’s level of intoxication, EMS responded and took him to a hospital for treatment, according to the report.
Injury accident reported on Cleveland
Police responded to an injury crash call at 2:06 p.m. Feb. 7 in the 1500 block of Cleveland Avenue, according to a social media report by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.
When officers arrived, they found a crashed vehicle with the driver still inside, according to the report. The vehicle appeared to have left the roadway, struck a tree and come to rest after crashing into a house, the report stated. No injury was noted.
Officers detected a strong smell of PCP and two PCP sticks were observed in the driver’s side floorboard, the report stated. The driver struggled with two officers outside the vehicle, and the officers applied two sets of handcuffs, the report stated. EMS transported the suspect to a hospital because of his combative nature and apparent PCP use, according to the report.
Shooting reported on Haskell
A shooting was reported at 10:20 p.m. Feb. 7 in the 1000 block of Haskell Avenue, according to a social media report by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.
Police officers discovered a male with life-threatening injuries, according to the report.
Based on initial information, police stated the suspect had fired multiple rounds toward victims and property, and at least one bullet struck a victim.
Multiple occupied dwellings, a parked vehicle and an occupied vehicle also were struck by gunfire, the report stated.
The suspect fled in a red Dodge pickup, according to the report. A red Dodge pickup then was reported as a possible suspect vehicle involved in an accident where the driver fled, the report stated.
Edwardsville police later took a suspect into custody in the case, according to the report.
