Kidnapping reported on Freeman Drive
A kidnapping was reported about 10 p.m. Jan. 14 in the 600 block of Freeman Drive, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.
Officers answering a burglary call discovered that an acquaintance of a resident knocked on the door to the home while the resident was sleeping, according to the report.
Her daughter answered the door, and the suspect then put a knife to the daughter, grabbed her and fled on foot, the report stated.
The mother’s boyfriend then chased them on foot and was able to recover the daughter near 7th and Nebraska, according to the report. The victim was not injured, the report stated.
Man shot near 7th and Freeman
A man sitting in his vehicle in front of an apartment complex at the 700 block of Freeman Avenue was shot by an unknown person about 7:52 p.m. Jan. 14, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.
The man left his vehicle and went to an address in the area, where he knocked for help, the report stated. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition, the report stated.
Burglary and assault reported in 3100 block of Oakland
Suspects forced entry into the rear of a home in the 3100 block of Oakland Avenue at 11:17 p.m. Jan. 14, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.
The victim was inside the home. The suspects demanded to know where the victim’s roommate’s belonging were, according to the report.
The suspects pointed a handgun at the victim and threatened to shoot her, according to the report. The suspects stole some of her property and fled, the report stated.
Resident beaten after drinking with other apartment residents
Officers responded to the 600 block of South 71st Terrace at 2:47 a.m. Jan. 14, and found a victim in her apartment suffering from minor injuries, similar to injuries that might have been received in a fight, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.
The woman said she had been drinking with a large crowd of residents, and out of nowhere, the crowd of unknown females began attacking her, the report stated.
The victim fled to her apartment, the group followed and continued to beat her, the report said.
The victim thought someone in the crowd might have taken her cell phone during the disturbance, according to the report. There was a moderate amount of damage to the apartment, the report stated.
