An inch or so of snow was on the ground around 9 a.m. Friday in Wyandotte County.

Light snow was falling in Wyandotte County at 9 a.m. Friday, as about an inch of snow had fallen during the night and morning.

Wyandotte County is under a winter weather advisory until 6 p.m. Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

A total of 1 to 3 inches of snow is expected in Wyandotte County today, the weather service said. Winds may gust up to 48 mph.

The weather service said residents should plan on slippery road conditions, with patchy blowing snow possibly reducing visibility, according to the weather service. The morning and evening commute can be affected. Gusty winds also could bring down tree branches.

Travel on Friday and Friday afternoon is heavily discouraged, the weather service said.

Weather service predictions showed that the same level of snow that is at 9 a.m. will continue through about noon, then a slightly less amount falling through 3 p.m., followed by a smaller amount of snow through 6 p.m., and then a little snow tapering off around 8 p.m. tonight.

Today, snow is in the forecast, mainly before 4 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 32 with a northwest wind of 22 to 26 mph, gusting as high as 48 mph. From 1 to 3 inches of snow is possible.

Tonight, there is a 20 percent chance of snow before 9 p.m., with patchy blowing snow possible before 7 p.m. The low will be around 24 with a northwest wind of 11 to 20 mph, gusting as high as 34.

Saturday, it will be partly sunny, with a high near 36 and a northwest wind of 8 to 10 mph, the weather service said.

Saturday night, it will be partly cloudy, with a low of 25 and a 23st northwest wind of 3 to 6 mph, according to the weather service.

Sunday, it will be partly sunny, with a high near 41 and a northwest wind of 6 to 13 mph, gusting as high as 21 mph, the weather service said.

Sunday night, it will be partly cloudy, with a low of 24, according to the weather service.

Monday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, it will be partly sunny, with a high near 45, the weather service said.

Monday night, it will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 30, according to the weather service.

Tuesday, it will be partly sunny, with a high near 43, the weather service said.

Tuesday night, it will be partly cloudy, with a low of 27, according to the weather service.

Wednesday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 47, the weather service said.

Wednesday night, it will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 33, according to the weather service.
