Who will be the new chief of police for Kansas City, Kan.?

The five finalists for the position chief of police of Kansas City, Kan., came by to meet members of the Unified Government Commission and citizens as well tonight at City Hall in Kansas City, Kan.

Each candidate gave a five-minute presentation to the commission on why he should be chosen to be the new chief of police for Kansas City, Kan.

The candidates are Vince Davenport, who is the acting bureau director of criminal investigations for the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department; Randall Hundley, the current deputy chief for the Kansas City, Mo., Police Department; Mark McCrory, deputy chief of police for the Tulsa Police Department in Tulsa, Okla.; Richard Zapal, commander, patrol south division, Savannah Chatham Metropolitan Police Department, Savannah, Ga.; and Terry Zeigler, assistant chief, bureau of operations for the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department.

Every one of the five finalists has a lot of experience.

After the presentation the candidates were invited to attend a reception in the lobby of the Kansas City, Kan., City Hall. This gave them a chance not only to meet members of the UG Commission, but also citizens as well.

It is anticipated that a new chief of police of Kansas City, Kan., will be named soon, possibly by the first of the year, according to UG Administrator Doug Bach.
