Juvenile care worker charged in juvenile detention center case

A juvenile care worker has been charged in a case involving an incident at the Wyandotte County Juvenile Detention Center, according to the Wyandotte County District Attorney’s office.

Wyandotte County District Attorney Mark A. Dupree Sr. charged Jorge Navarro, 51, with one count of mistreatment of a confined person; one count of endangering a child; and one count of battery. Navarro, a juvenile care worker with the Sheriff’s Department, was charged Dec. 10.

The incident took place Oct. 11, according to the district attorney’s office.

Another juvenile care worker with the Sheriff’s Office reported the incident, the district attorney’s spokesman stated in a news release.
