Today’s high near 66, snow and rain possible Friday night

The forecast from the National Weather Service contains some contrasts for the next 48 hours – mild temperatures in the 60s on Thursday, followed by a 25-degree drop, rain tonight, and possibly snow on Friday night and Saturday.

Rain will be moving in after 3 a.m. Friday, according to the weather service, with the change in temperatures.

Snow is possible in the northern parts of this region from Friday night to Saturday, the weather service said. At this time, weather maps from the National Weather Service show that Wyandotte County is just south of the area that will receive snow, and could just get rain, but the line separating rain from snow is close to the Wyandotte County area. Today, the forecast is sunny skies, with a high of 66 and a south southwest wind of 3 to 6 mph, the weather service said.

Tonight, there is a 30 percent chance of rain, mainly after 3 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 37. A light northeast wind will become north northeast 5 to 10 mph in the evening. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected.

Friday, there is an 80 percent chance of rain, with a high of 42, the weather service said. A north northeast wind will be 8 to 10 mph. Between a quarter and half-inch of rain is possible.

Friday night, there is a 50 percent chance of rain before 2 a.m., then a chance of rain and snow, according to the weather service. The low will be around 33 with a north wind of 7 to 9 mph. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is possible.

Saturday, there is a 20 percent chance of rain and snow before 8 a.m., then a slight chance of snow between 8 a.m. and noon, the weather service said. The high will be near 39 with a north northwest wind of 8 to 13 mph, gusting as high as 18 mph.

Saturday night, it will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 25, according to the weather service.
