UG Commission to meet tonight; police and community task force on agenda

The Mayor’s Task Force on Community and Police Relations is expected to be the topic of a special session of the Unified Government Commission at 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3.

The virtual meeting will be on Zoom.

The Unified Government Commission also is meeting at 7 p.m. tonight in a virtual Zoom meeting.

On the agenda for the 7 p.m. meeting are a number of planning and zoning actions.

Also on the agenda is a resolution to extend the state of the local health emergency for the COVID-19 pandemic through March 15 in Wyandotte County.

The agenda includes a change of zone application from agriculture to planned apartment district and a master plan amendment for a future apartment complex development at 11501 Parallel Parkway, NorthPoint Development.

Also on the agenda is an ordinance allowing eminent domain to acquire land for the Kansas City Levees Project in Argentine, Armourdale and the Central Industrial District Levee System.

Adoption of the UG’s 2021 state legislative priorities also is on the agenda.

The Trail Network Development Project also is on the agenda, and commissioners are being asked which trail to fund first.

  1. people need to work so they can can pay their bills. businesses need to be open to employ those people. Let people decide if what they do is safe or not, and be responsible for themselves.
