Police investigate alleged kidnapping attempt

Kansas City, Kansas, police are investigating an alleged kidnapping attempt at 5:08 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, in the 2300 block of West 39th.

According to a police spokesman, dispatchers received a call about a missing or runaway juvenile.

Officers spoke with a family member of the juvenile, who said the juvenile was forced into a gold 1998 Toyota Camry with Kansas license plate 662 MYB. The family member said the car fled the area.

The juvenile was found safe after a short investigation, the police spokesman stated, and was taken to a hospital.

The crime scene is in the 6300 block of Holliday Drive in Kansas City, Kansas, the police spokesman stated.

The person of interest, a 40-year-old male, had not been located as of earlier this morning, police stated.

The incident is under investigation by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department Criminal Investigation Bureau. Anyone with information is asked to call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
