Free COVID-19 testing to be available at former Kmart Monday

The Unified Government Health Department is moving its COVID-19 testing Monday from the 6th and Ann location to the former Kmart at 78th and State Avenue in Kansas City, Kansas.

The hours will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Tests are free for those who live or work in Wyandotte County.

A free COVID-19 pop-up test will continue from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 19, at Oak Ridge Baptist Church, 9301 Parallel Parkway, Kansas City, Kansas. The pop-up test is through Vibrant Health and the Wyandotte County Health Equity Task Force.

The tests now are open to asymptomatic people as well as those who have symptoms or have been exposed to COVID-19. Check with the UG Health Department’s Facebook page to see if there have been any changes in the schedule because of the weather or for other reasons. Bring something that shows that you live or work in Wyandotte County, such as a utility bill.

Flu shots offered

Free flu shots are being offered to students and the community at a drive-through clinic from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, at Donnelly College, 608 N.18th St., Kansas City, Kansas. Those participating must wear face masks. The flu shots are available on a first-come, first-served basis to those 6 and older. Those participating should bring their insurance cards, and if they don’t have one, then vouchers will be available.

The community flu clinic’s partners are Donnelly College and Bishop Ward High School, and the sponsors of the flu clinic are Mid-America Immunization Coalition, Nurture KC and Walgreens.
