Victim of Eisenhower Park homicide identified

The victim of a homicide on Friday evening, Oct. 9, at Eisenhower Park at 72nd and Georgia has been identified, according to a spokesman for the Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Office.

The victim was Mickey Lawrence Blevins, 47, a resident of Kansas City, Kansas, according to the sheriff’s spokesman.

Officers with the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department and Wyandotte County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Eisenhower Park at 10:20 p.m. Friday when they received a report of shots fired, according to the spokesman. The victim had apparent gunshot wounds, according to the spokesman.

The homicide is under investigation by the Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Office. There is no one in custody at this time. Anyone with information is asked to contact the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS, according to the spokesman.

  1. Please somebody come forward if you know anything. This was my brother… my family needs some closer. How could someone do this not only to my baby brother, but to my family. He had 5 children who are now fatherless, he had sisters. He had 2 very sick parents. We need to know why. We need the person that did it….the coward that he is; to pay the consequences for what he has done to our family. His poor children. And him. The coward that did this needs to do his time. Please please please if you know anything come forward anonymously and let it be know.
