Police officer injured on Allis

A police officer received minor injuries while investigating a shooting overnight, according to a Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department spokesman.

Police officers responded to reports of a shooting at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3, in the 5100 block of Farrow, according to a Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department spokesman.

Officers found a victim with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound on Farrow, according to the spokesman.

After receiving information, police went to the 1900 block of North Allis, where a person of interest was taken into custody in regards to the shooting case, police stated. Allis is between 7th and 8th streets in the northeast area.

As officers were leaving the residence around 11:22 p.m., an unknown number of persons began shooting at officers and the residence from a nearby tree line, the spokesman stated.

One resident was struck in the hand, with non-life-threatening injuries, and an officer received minor injuries, the spokesman stated.

An officer returned fire before all suspects fled on foot, the spokesman stated. None of the suspects have been identified or located, according to the spokesman.

The Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department’s Major Case Unit is investigating. Anyone with information was asked to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS, police stated.
